The 23rd & 24th; Cats, chest drains, comedy, cottages and death.

The 23rd of November.

Going to have to get a new pillow. Awake at 6.30 again for no reason and I'm sick of it. Plus I can rarely get comfortable when I'm trying to go to sleep so it has to stop. Going to be in town on Monday and pillow-purchasing will happen.

I had a nice reason to get up today, which was that we were going to Janine and Andrew's house to see little Blue, who is now Guthrie. To begin with, he was not excited about seeing me, but later on, having had some snuggles with his new parents, he was much calmer and let me give him lots of belly rubs. We talked cats, chest drains, comedy, cottages and death (I'm sorry, I can't think of a synonym for death that begins with c). Guthrie was very naughty, continually jumping up on the table to try and put his nose in the milk jug or investigate the macarons. Such a rascal. They have discovered he is likely to get fat if they are not careful.

We left at about half twelve, because we had things to do and they had to get themselves sorted to go off to London this afternoon. We will be back and I will get a kitty hug!

Before going home, Mommy went to M&S for a quick shop, and I went to Next so I could pick up my Christmas dress. However, while in there, I got very distracted by Christmas jumpers. I ended up buying another Christmas dress that I probably won't wear on the day, but is lots of fun, and I bought a couple of presents. Planned on being in and out but that did not happen! Nevermind. On my way back to the car, I popped into Boots to buy a new deodorant because mine ran out this morning, and a spare Aveeno handcream because they were a third off and one has to take the opportunity when it comes because that shit is expensive.

Back home, we ate lunch and watched the final two episodes of Junior Bake Off. We had both accidentally found out who won, so there was no stress, and I was just really glad it wasn't Eliza. I know I shouldn't dislike a child so much for no reason, but I can't help it. Once that was out of the way, we went upstairs and I tried on my dresses - keeping the one I bought today, but returning the one I collected! It is a lovely dress, but the material is quite scratchy, and it does not exactly skim over the bits of my body I don't like. Back to the hunt!

Washed my hair, then some Dark Time in which I inevitably fell asleep after my early start to the day. My body is not made for being awake for many hours.

The 24th of November.

I had a Zopiclone last night and even that didn't really help my sleep. I fell asleep relatively quickly, but woke up at half past one, plus numerous other times and I was out of bed before my alarm went off. To make matters worse, my right eye (normally the good one) kicked off yesterday, and I thought a good night of rest and ointment would help, but it's still angry today. I've checked for rogue eyelashes and there are none that I can see, so I've been flooding it with drops all day. It's not fun.

This morning, I watched Sunday Brunch, still without any scintillating guests. Surely some more interesting people must have things to promote? I did enjoy the section on festive breads, though. While I watched, I started crocheting a kitten blanket and texted Christine about Christmas presents for Mommy and Daddy. It turns out actually both things we've thought of might not be great ideas, which is most annoying. Is it just me that finds parents really difficult to buy for?

After lunch, I had some much-needed Dark Time with added ointment and GQT. It's so frustrating when it feels calm in the dark, then when I try and look at things, it freaks out again. I really hope tomorrow is better because I have liver clinic and I'm supposed to be seeing Sadie for lunch, then doing some shopping. I'd like my sole eye to work.

Back downstairs, I finally watched the last episode of American Horror Story with the kittens and I found it strangely moving? Not what one expects from that show but hey. I gave all of the floofs a brush, and ended up with Bramble getting very comfortable on my lap. I couldn't bear to move her, so I stayed in there and watched the start of Harry Potter. I also couldn't move if I wanted to, because my right foot had gone to sleep. I gently uncrossed my legs, so she didn't stir too much, and started moving my ankle up and down so as to wake it up. When the second advert break came, I slowly slid her onto the chair and escaped. I do feel very pleased with myself when I get Bramble on my lap, because she is the least lap cat-like. I am the cat whisperer.
